OTH Regensburg - Who We Are
Eight faculties offer a wide diversity of study options in the form of practice-oriented Bachelor and Master degree programmes in engineering, business studies, design, architecture, health and social services. Numerous study options, a wide choice of general-education subjects including languages and soft skills, plus further training programmes which can be taken alongside the main course of study offer an opportunity to create a personal study profile tailored to the individual’s talents and affinities. In Bavaria for example, Mathematics, Microsystems Technology, Production Engineering and Automation and Technical Computer Science can only be studied at OTH Regensburg. OTH Regensburg is also expanding its range of dual degree courses.
The profile of OTH Regensburg as a centre of learning is further enhanced by joint research projects, as its teaching staff maintain close working relations with partners in practice, including industrial companies, commercial enterprises and the social services. These research and transfer projects are coordinated by the Institute of Applied Research and Partnership with Industry (IAFW) which is based at OTH Regensburg. Special emphasis is placed on Sensor Technology, IT Security, Microsystems Technology and Microelectronics, Software Engineering, Logistics and Bioengineering. The activities of OTH Regensburg are an integral part of regional and national clusters. Strategic partnerships exist with local authorities, business and other higher education establishments, especially the University of Regensburg.
With the motto "CONTINUING with EDUCATION", the Centre for Continuing Education and Knowledge Management of OTH Regensburg is the central point of contact for businesses and those interested in furthering their education. The Centre for Continuing Education (ZWW) coordinates part-time and academic further education courses that are both practical and interdisciplinary. As well as its own offerings, ranging from specialist seminars through degrees to further education study courses with internationally recognised qualifications, the ZWW offers professional support for corporate HR and organisation development.
OTH Regensburg has a track record of facilitating foreign study for its students, around one third of whom get to spend time studying abroad in one of over 30 countries as part of their degree programme. Our International Office provides the necessary contacts. This international network is based on binding commitments which exist with more than 188 universities worldwide. The academic environment at OTH Regensburg is enriched by the presence of students from many countries.
The library at OTH Regensburg contains around 170,000 volumes, 50,000 licensed e-books and subscribes to some 600 periodicals. The library has ultramodern technical facilities and is a significant learning resource in its own right with its comprehensive academic sources. The joint online library network with the University of Regensburg offers easy access to a huge knowledge potential.
The Careers Service helps our students prepare for the world of work in general. In the Business Simulation Center (BSC), business start-up concepts and corporate management can be simulated on computers in group assignments. The Hans-Lindner-Stiftung and the University of Regensburg partner us in these projects.
The start-up center is the business start-up initiative of OTH Regensburg and helps entrepreneurially minded students, research assistants/associates and alumni of all faculties who aspire to set up and run their own business.
The new Mensa (refectory) on the Seybothstraße campus looks after the physical well-being of staff and students at OTH Regensburg.
