The course teaches a broad spectrum of knowledge with the very latest developments in business studies, equipping students to take on complex technical and managerial tasks.

Target group

The course is designed for students who have already been assigned their first managerial tasks or who are about to take up their first management position, also for those seeking professional development and career advancement.

Those who set great store by face-to-face tuition will derive particular benefit from the expert teaching skills of professors from a highly reputed university of applied sciences and from the comprehensive and intensive support offered by lecturers and staff. A range of teaching methods are used to enable students to assume wide-ranging technical and managerial tasks in businesses at regional or national level.

Entrance requirements

Course applicants are required to meet the following requirements:

  • they must hold a first degree in a relevant business studies course consisting of at least six academic semesters, and
  • they must have gained at least one year of qualified professional experience in a field relevant to the Masters degree course (and this time must have been spent following on from their first degree course.)

Course content

The Masters course covers five semesters and is divided into three sections. The first section (semesters 1 and 2) is compulsory for all students and comprises generalist modules worth 30 credits (ECTS) in which students are taught concepts, methods and tools that have been tried and tested in practice:

  • Strategic Management
  • Empirical Methods
  • Selected chapters of business law
  • Applied Economics
  • Special aspects of business management
  • Entrepreneurship

The course then offers two specialisation options worth 30 credits each (semesters 2 and 3) of which one has to be chosen at the start of the course:

1. Marketing & Sales

  • Brand Management
  • Institutional Aspects of Marketing
  • Strategic Aspects of Sales Management
  • Project Seminar
  • Two optional subjects

2. Leadership, with the three skill areas of business management, human resource management and development, and organisation and culture

  • Strategic Leadership
  • Trends and Practice of Corporate Management
  • Corporate Culture and Organisational Behaviour
  • Project Seminar
  • Two optional subjects

As part of the project seminar, students will be required to write a subject-specific course assignment that will also pick up on cases from their own companies and will be part of preparation for the Master thesis. Students can select the two optional subjects from a catalogue before the start of the particular semester. They include:

  • Sustainable Management
  • Employment Law for Managers
  • Conflict and Negotiating
  • New Media in Marketing
  • Sustainable and Value-Based Marketing Management
  • Advertising and Competition Law
  • Market Research
  • International Sales

The third section (semesters 4 and 5) is devoted to the Master thesis which is worth 30 credits.
